Come Go With Me

2019
Responding to the uncertainty of moving to a new place, Kayla turns to rural landscapes uniting her past and present to structure this work, choreographing a meditation for grounding.  A need for safety results in the work being executed entirely in an embrace. Felt sense is integral to the piece, with the ebb and flow of circling emerging organically. Heavy music contrasted with intentional, eased movement, reflects the feeling of a recent geographical move. The timing, pattern, repetition, and simplicity of Come Go With Me, rooted in Kayla's embodied experience of the rural, continue to define her aesthetic today.
