FEBRUARY 9: The Little Match Girl Passion with Borealis Chamber Artists

The Little Match Girl Passion serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of compassion and supporting those in need. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Chum a nonprofit organization that serves over 8,000 low-income, homeless, hungry, isolated, or otherwise marginalized community members annually in Duluth, MN. Additionally, a freewill offering will be collected during the performance to support their vital work. This is the regional premiere of The Little Match Girl Passion by David Lang.

APRIL 3-13: Every Brilliant Thing at Duluth Playhouse

This moving and surprisingly hilarious immersive experience provides a life-affirming jolt of humanism, reminding audiences to pay attention to life’s smallest joys — and to each other. Every Brilliant Thing tells the story of a young child who creates a list of “everything worth living for” to cheer up their mother. What starts as a heartfelt attempt to bring comfort soon evolves into a lifelong project, with the list growing to thousands of entries, ranging from small, everyday pleasures to profound moments of connection.

Pennilessness, drug abuse, HIV/AIDS, social tension, and political unrest, among other hardships, challenge the group physically and emotionally. Facing the problems head on, they make personal self-discoveries and find what really matters most in life.
