Kayla is an interdisciplinary artist from rural Two Harbors, Minnesota, using dance, film, theater and visual art to cope with and communicate her existence. Her practice is rooted in improvisation, where she listens and responds to the felt experience.
Kayla's work is personal, visceral, curious, and cathartic - driven by her belief that subjectivity and vulnerability serve as an echo palette for others, offering a tender exchange that affirms, affects and inspires both artist and audience. Kayla's rural lineage guides her approach. Her current body of work explores themes of self-performance, identity, relationship to place, radical love, and legacy. |
