object permanenceobject permanence IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR SCREENINGS AND GALLERY INSTALLATIONSobject permanence is an installation exploration visibility or lack thereof in our time of perpetual display. Through a screendance short film, photography series, and an interactive community component, the work provokes reflection on the curated nature of our digital presence, the enduring power of memory, and the abundance of concealed narratives that shape our world. |
SCREENDANCE| object permanenceThe centerpiece of the installation is a sensual screendance short, object permanence, exploring the intricate interplay between visibility and invisibility. Through striking visuals and a non-narrative journey, the film uses choreographic and film techniques to illuminate how our perceptions are curated, presenting an opportunity to question the authenticity of our public encounters and the inherent implications of constant exposure or lack thereof. It challenges viewers to contemplate the inconspicuous aspects of objects, memories, and communities, prompting a reconsideration of our perceptions.
Choreography, dance, cinematography & editing | Kayla Schiltgen, original composition & music | Dean Sibinski, production assistance | Eric Elefson PHOTOGRAPHY | scene unseenscene unseen, captures fragments of people, moments and objects of rural places. By incorporating the use of in-camera effects created with found objects from place, movement and prompts that engage the people being photographed in a collaborative creative process, the images exemplify the delicate balance of seen and unseen. The tension between what is seen and what is hidden invites viewers to contemplate the agency of rural people, the representation of rural spaces, the fluctuating state of the natural environments that characterize rural spaces and the layers of meaning that lie beyond what is public.
